YMCA ADVENTURE GUIDES
What are YMCA ADVENTURE GUIDES?
As a member of the YMCA Adventure Guides, you will have the opportunity to develop a stronger relationship with your childe by joining a unique "Circle" with whom you'll participate in activities like games, camping trips, ceremonies and family adventures. You and your child will take a journey of discovery and learning. Throughout this journey the Adventure Guide compass points - Family, Nature, Community and Fun and the YMCA Character Development Values - will provide a sense of direction and inspiration for activities. As a member, you'll be able to participate in larger scale activities such as weekend campouts, parties or parades. Conducting group exercise in the circle fosters leadership, problem solving, group work skill and a sense of commitment to a larger community - all of which reinforce the YMCA's pledge to build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
Circle Activities
Circles are made up of 6 to 8 dads and children who schedule monthly meetings and other activities to be done as a circle. Monthly meetings usually take place in the home of one of the circle members, and include ceremonies, songs, games, crafts and refreshments. Circles also have the option of scheduling activities such as picnics, field trips, or other outings.
Federation Events
In addition to circle activities and meetings, Federation events will be scheduled throughout the year. These events include:
Fall, Winter & Spring Campouts, Father/Daughter Banquet, Derby Day, Boys Field Day and other events.
Who Can Participate?
Children in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade are eligible for YMCA Adventure Guides Program.
How Much Does It Cost?
